Associação Waking Life (Waking Life) wants you to be familiar with how we collect, use and disclose information from and about you. This privacy policy describes our practices in connection with information collected through our services, such as websites (including, the www.wakinglife.pt website and Waking Life pages in any social media platform, such as Facebook and Instagram), mobile sites and applications / apps (collectively referred as ‘Waking Life Services’). By using Waking Life Services, you agree to the terms and conditions of this Privacy Policy and consent to our use of your personal information in the manner set out below.

1. Data Collection

Waking Life collects the following information from and about you:  

Registration information: The information you submit to register for Waking Life Services, for example, to receive a newsletter or register for any of the options of “Get Involved” in our Website. Registration information may include, for example, name, email address, zip code, birthday, photograph and social media profile.

Public information and posts: Comments or content that you post to the Company Services and the information about you that accompanies those posts or content, which may include a name, user name, comments, likes, status, profile information and picture.  Public information and posts are always public, which means they are available to everyone and may be displayed in search results on external search engines.

Information from social media: If you access or log-in to a Waking Life Service through a social media service or connect a Waking Life Service to a social media service, the information we collect may also include your user ID and/or user name associated with that social media service, any information or content you have permitted the social media service to share with us, such as your profile picture, email address or friends lists, and any information you have made public in connection with that social media service.  When you access the Company Services through social media services or when you connect a Waking Life Service to social media services, you are authorizing Waking Life to collect, store, and use such information and content in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

Activity Information: When you access and interact with Waking Life Services, we may collect certain information about those visits.  For example, in order to permit your connection to Waking Life Services, our servers receive and record information about your computer, device, and browser, including potentially your IP address, browser type, and other software or hardware information.  If you access Waking Life Services from a mobile or other device, we may collect a unique device identifier assigned to that device, geolocation data, or other transactional information for that device.

2. Data Use

Waking Life uses your data for the following purposes:

– Provide the Waking Life Services;
– Assess, analyse and improve the Waking Life Services and its features;
– Improve your experience with Waking Life Services;
– Allow your involvement and participation in Waking Life activities and events;
– Enter into agreements connected with Waking Life activities and events;

In which cases, the data collected and processed is necessary for the provision of those services and/or for the execution of any agreements entered into with Waking Life.

Based on Waking Life’s legitimate interest, in case you have entered into a previous relationship with us or based on your consent.
In any case, you can withdraw your consent and unsubscribe from any newsletters at any time.

3. Data Processing and Storage

3.1 How do we process your data?

Your personal data is processed by both automated and manual means and under appropriate security measures, considering available technology and costs of implementation. Waking Life has implemented adequate administrative, technical, physical and organisational measures, in order to prevent and mitigate threats to your personal data. Your personal data is only accessed by Waking Life personnel with effective need of access for the purposes identified in this Policy.

3.2 Where do we keep it?

All the collected data is kept in data centers located in Portugal.

3.3. De we transfer your data?

Your personal data may be transferred to other countries in the European Union or the European Economic Area.

3.4 For how long do we keep it?

The data collected through Waking Life Services is only stored for the time necessary for the purposes for which such data is processed, taking into consideration any applicable statutes of limitation and/or data or document retention obligations.

In any case, the following retention periods shall be applicable:

– Data collected for the purposes of assessing, analysing and improving the Waking Life Services and its features: 26 months;
– Data with tax relevance, such as invoices and payments: 10 years;
– Data regarding participation in Waking Life activities and events, such as contracts, tickets and other related data: 24 months, except for if a longer statute of limitation applies.

4. Data subject rights

You have the right to:

– Obtain information on what personal data we collect and, when necessary, rectify of complete such personal data;
– Request the erasure of your personal data;
– Request the restriction of processing of your personal data;
– Receive your personal data in a structured, commonly used and machine-readable format
– Object to the processing of your personal data,

All of these rights may be subject to legal limitations, which we will inform you of, if and when applicable.

5. Other relevant information

If you log in with or connect a social media service account with Waking Life Services, we may share your user name, picture, and likes, as well as your activities and comments with other Waking Life Services users and with your friends associated with your social media service. We may also share the same information with the social media service provider. By logging in with or connecting to Waking Life Services with a social media service or account, you are providing your consent to us to share information we collect from and about you with the social media service provider, other users and your friends and you understand that the social media service’s use of the shared information will be governed by the social media service’s privacy policy.  If you do not want your personal information shared in this way, please do not connect your social media service account with Waking Life Services and do not participate in social sharing on Waking Life Services.
