Olá, so you wanna participate in Waking Life 2024?
It’s probably a good idea that you know what you’re getting yourself into. We’d like to highlight that this isn’t a ticket to a show, instead it is an entry into a week long, psychedelic, community-led celebration. The idea is to transform passivity to engagement, consumption to creation, bystanding to deep-diving - the spaces for new world-building await.
Communitarian behaviour takes some mindfulness and effort, and perhaps some deconditioning. We have more detailed guidelines on the website, but here are some of the good vibe essentials & basic rules.
We don’t want to put stickers on your phones, but cameras and filming on the dancefloors is nevertheless prohibited. We want privacy for liberation and expression. People have to be able to surrender to trance, to an undocumented ephemeral moment, without the invasiveness of a camera.
Cigarette butts. Put them in your portable ashtrays or pockets. Don’t throw them on the goddam ground. The environment is not our ashtray. If you don’t have an ashtray, find a friend or stranger who does, or find a bin nearby. Same goes for all litter. Bin it.
No fires. Light your smokeables and that’s it. There is extremely high fire risk in the area. No gas stoves, candles, campfires, fireworks - whatsoever. We don't want to set the festival and surrounding forest on fire.
Compost toilets are for peeing and pooping. Lake is for floating and splashing. Keep these activities in their respective areas. But to make it extra clear, don’t piss or shit in the lake.
It feels like we shouldn’t have to say this, but no bullying or harassment in any form. No stealing or vandalising. Be respectful and kind to your peers & your surroundings. Make this space our collective home.
